Werkmeister's worldAn artist and his collection.

March 22th - 18. Oktober 18th 2021

Wolfgang Werkmeister is primarily known in contemporary German art as a master of etching. In the special exhibition in 2021, the Jenisch Haus will present the artist, who worked in Altona, as a decade-long collector. On the occasion of Werkmeister's 80th birthday, his extensive art collection is shown, which includes numerous works that have significantly inspired his artistic work.

His collection includes paintings and graphics from the 17th century to the present day, which were executed with sophisticated techniques and with a high level of precision. The works include works by the landscape painter Ascan Lutteroth, the Chilean painter Benito Rebolledo Correa, the Danish artist Niels Simonsen and the Leipzig graphic artist Walter Zeising.

The exhibition also features works by contemporaries of master craftsmen such as graphic artists Ralf Escher, Thomas Wüsten and Paul Wunderlich as well as paintings by Jan Peter Tripp, Michael Mau and Fritz Kreidt.

This exhibition was made possible by the Aurubis AG.
