"wunderkammer" (Cabinet of Curiosities) play, collect and marvel

The “wunderkammer” invites children to play, collect and marvel. For children of reading age, there are many wondrous but also everyday things to discover in the “wunderkammer”, which can be regrouped and arranged according to their own ideas.

The children can put together their own little exhibitions with the objects or invent and record their own stories to go with them. There is a corner for reading and plenty of space for painting, writing, experimenting and putting together their own collections – alone, together with friends or with the family.

And in between, there are numerous objects from the Altonaer Museum‘s treasure troves to look at. Together with the Gabriele Fink Foundation, the Altonaer Museum has transformed the idea of the traditional cabinet of curiosities into a children‘s department of its very own character, based on wonder as the most important impulse of philosophical thought

The “wunderkammer” was conceived and set up together with the Gabriele Fink Foundation.
